Hey guys! It's me...

The name is Alyssa Campbell and I'm from the tiny town of Ford City, Pennsylvania. (That girl to your right... that's me.)  My passions are design, hockey... and cows.  For now, I'm working on my fifth year at Slippery Rock University pursuing a degree in Communication with an emphasis in Emerging Technology & Multimedia and a minor in Business Administration.  I'm a brother of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity as well, where I serve as our chapter's Treasurer and Fundraising Committee chair.

When I'm not doing those things, chances are you'll find me on my family's farm, home to about 250 dairy cows and where we raise a significant amount of hay, oats, corn, and soybeans. While I love designing things, the farm is my first passion, and usually plays a large role in my projects.  My career goal is to eventually tie the two things I love most into one by obtaining a graphic design position with an agriculturally associated company, ideally Holstein World, but an internship is still in the works.

As I continue taking classes to prepare me for that dream job, this semester I'm enrolled in a new-media journalism class, for which I am writing this blog.  I hope that this class can help me to better understand the impact of new media and its role in my chosen field of study.  Hopefully I can use the knowledge I obtain through this class to my benefit where ever I end up in the future.

(My own blog as well as my classmates' can be read on our class Facebook page. Also, check out my blog on my Twitter or my classmates' blogs by using #nmjatsru.)

One new media outlet that I frequent is Buzzfeed. Generally, I use Buzzfeed because it is very active on Facebook.  I enjoy Buzzfeed because it is more for entertainment purposes and oriented toward young adults and things that people my age are interested in.  Many quizzes and articles that Buzzfeed provides are shared by many on Facebook and are easy to access and entertaining to read.

I also check out CNN occasionally, which is a popular form of traditional media. I like CNN because it covers a variety of different types of news stories and is generally very up to date since they cover news stories all day long.

So there's a little info you may not have known about me.  If anything above peaks your interest, feel free to follow my blog and check it out every now and then.  And I'm sure my classmates have some great things to say as well.

Thanks for reading!
